I love this book. It is so inspiring. I followed this plan and in 6 months my weight was down 34 lbs. and cholesterol was down 30 points and I feel great and love the food. I still eat all these great foods, and it's been a year.
Whole Foods Plant-Based as a lifestyle meets gold-standard science. If you are interested in improving your health, this is a must read.
I highly recommend this book. I started reading the book 2 weeks before thanksgiving. By Jan 30, I am down 22 pounds and feel great. There is no complicated formula. Just eat 80-90% of your food from fresh veggie, fruit, beans, seeds and nuts. Start slow if you need to, including stay out of fast food restaurants, avoid processed foods and white flour product (yes, bagels too). The book provides some great tips for getting healthy by just eating the right foods.

Amazing book. Now i realize why every diet I've ever been on failed. A must read for everyone.
Following this diet helped me recover from allergies and multiple chemical sensitivities causing chronic fatigue. I feel great! Incidentally lots weight and kept it off. The recipes are delicious as well.
My doctor recommends this book to her patients. Not wanting to be put on high cholesterol medication, I read it from cover to cover and found it a page-turner. After a lifetime of hearing about the latest food study reported on the evening news debunking or hailing the latest food for adding to or subtracting from American diets to solve an overweight American population, Dr. Fuhrman's knowledge and experience with his patients for over twenty years, writes for a layperson's understanding of the complex issues of the problems with the American diet.
I'm a believer and have been, but have never come across such a helpful aid to addressing every issue I ever had, in addition to giving such assistance through really good recipes which I am enjoying. As my grandmother used to say, "Health is your first wealth." I can afford to spend some time and effort reading and investing in a healthy life style with this inspirational book as my guide.
The focus here is on HEALTH, and how avoiding the Standard American Diet will reduce heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
Good book with sound advice. Uses language that anyone can understand. Tons of references based on science. I would totally trust Dr. Fuhrman's advice.
Evaluating the nutrient density of foods makes your choices pretty obvious.
The book and the testimonials are targetting people with weight to lose (which I don't have), so that is a bit eye rolling and tedious for me, but given the cover of the book says it is about this, I suppose I can't really complain. His advice still applies to healthy living and weight maintenance.
I'm glad the book was not half recipes like other books in this genre.
I have only read half way through, but started some of the tips that he advises and it works immediately.
Amazing Book! I don't care much about the weight loss issue, but Fuhrman's recommended diet for health is a revelation. In a nutshell: 1 lb of raw veggies and 1lb of cooked veggies and 1 cup of beans a day.
