This is fun to read with a cup of hot chocolate or a cinnamon bun

An intelligent female, Matilda Wormwood is a prodigy and is well prepared, qualifying her to skip multiple grades at a young age. However, her family does not support her passions and interest in further education. She amazes her teacher, Ms. Honey, with her brilliant mind which increases the amount of time they spend together for months. Matilda discovers a mysterious power she possesses and relationships are exposed. Soon, Matilda's parents must leave due to a scandal. Will Matilda continue living with her parents? or is there another sense of hope for Matilda's learning?

Matilda is a cute and fun book to read for young children. There are plenty of illustrations that help guide readers throughout the story. I believe the illustrations made the story much more fun as well. The beautiful ending completes the story which left me satisfied.

Matilda is quite a bright girl, except her parents would rather watch TV than support her. Her intelligence becomes a tool for her in troubling circumstances when a tough headmistress pops up into her life. Kindness, perseverance and staying true to oneself are common themes.

Dahl does it again with this fabulous read!

I gave this book to my little sister and she loves the story! Matilda's journey in the book has so many interesting characters, like her dishonest dad and her angry headmistress Trunchbull. Although my sister asked me to define some words used in the book, it is an overall accessible novel for all ages! It's such a fantastic story about a little girl who uses her wits to overcome obstacles.

Matilda by Roald Dahl is a classic that I enjoyed reading when I was a kid. It’s about a child named Matilda who enjoys reading. Whenever her parents mistreat her, she plays a variety of pranks to get even. She befriends her teacher, Miss Honey and discovers the backstory between her teacher and the abusive headmistress Miss Trunchbull. The book incorporates a rebellious environment and supernatural powers that enhances the experience, not to the point of focusing entirely on magical powers. This balance would make it quite the read.

the villains cooked up by roald dahl are great. the trunchbull is no different.

Matilda’s family has never really acknowledged her. They left her alone in her room and didn’t teach her to read, or help her walk, so she had to figure this out on her own. It may seem like she has a horrible life, but she had a hidden power.

Once again, Roald Dahl has written a wonderful book that has a creative plot and a satisfying ending.

I gave this book five stars because it was amazing and very adventurous; highly recommended.

I have an embarrassing confession. I've watched plenty of movie adaptions of Roald Dahl's books, but never actually read one. This is a travesty on my past as a proud book lover. I decided to remedy this situation by reading the delightful and hilarious Matilda. Matilda is a great book hero: she loves books and learning, she's brave and selfless, and she knows how to cleverly punish adults who deserve to be taught a lesson. Roald Dahl has a wonderful sense of humor and word play. I'm not sure if I would've appreciated as a child. He knows how to speak to what kids fantasize about. Miss Trunchbull is perhaps one of the worst villains ever created. The illustrations by Quentin Blake really bring the story to life. I've seen the movie and now I want to see the Broadway play.

One of my favourite stories! Love this one so much!
