An interesting read... a dressed-up tale about ordinary people intersecting with semi-cosmic forces of evil and good. What better place than outside Las Vegas in the desert? It's short, a bit grisly, and, of course, the good guys win... sort of. I'll look forward to Parker's second book before passing any "judgment" on him.

Really quick--a one to two day book--and engaging read, especially if you are in the mood for a bit of the "Twilight Zone". I also read other reviews before I finished the book and saw comments regarding Christian literature. Perhaps in the eye of the beholder, but it did not strike me as pushing a specific religious agenda. Good read; I would like to see more from this author.

On the copyright page, the Library of Congress gives several classifications to this book, one of them being "Christian fiction." Wrong ... this book has next to none of any elements one might consider to be "Christian" or "inspirational" fiction. It is, however, a very good book of survival, involving a married couple kidnapped by a nomad, and another woman on the run from a deranged gunman. The story is fast paced and one never knows how it's going to end, especially when all of the characters finally intersect. The "ending" for one of the characters is quite gruesome, however. Good read from start to finish - and a very good effort for a first novel by an author.
