Already watched the older versions (David Suchet, Peter Ustinov) so many times (and the PBS special with David Suchet traveling on the train) that this was in my opinion excellent. Fast moving. Good acting. Loved that it centered on Poirot. Especially loved the added scenery. There was one question to unravel in my opinion BUT in no way takes away from the good ending.

I haven't read this book yet so I started watching it knowing nothing, and it was alright. Not super exciting, but I liked the cast and the characters had a lot of potential.

Agatha Christie was always negative on adaptations of her work and this one must have her rolling in her grave. Wooden, boring characters but the worst is changing Poirot and his motivations. Horrible.

One word: Boring. I didn't know what to expect, but I had higher hopes for what turned out to be an excruciatingly boring movie. If I had been watching alone, I would not have finished.

I have to say I found this terribly boring. I kept skipping ahead to see if it got better and it never did. Also, from what I saw, it strayed from the book. Not worth my time.

I was sorely disappointed in this film from start to finish. Maybe the 1974 film with Albert Finnery portraying Hercule Poirot along with a real all star cast doomed my critical disappointment here. After the train becomes in effect wrecked during a snow slide and there is no heat for days the passengers are acting as though nothing is actually bothering them outside of the delay. Watching Branagh walking around without a winter coat is silly. No. I was not favorably taken with the film at all. Kenneth Branagh directed the film, produced the film, starred in the film, and ought to pleased with himself. This film cost $55 million and made $352.8 million at the box office.

A film as overblown and fake as Hercule's pompous mustache. Stuffed too full of famous and talented actors for its own good. Smugness levels rose to extraordinary highs.

It's hard to review this film without comparing it to the two other versions I've also seen recently. Branagh's version is so beautiful (and star-studded, of course) but I have to say it lacks the emotional intensity of the David Suchet TV version from 2010.

Poirot is in real turmoil when faced with the truth of this case in Suchet's version; by comparison, Branagh hardly seems bothered. But then again, Branagh captures Poirot better than Albert Finney did in the 1974 version.

All three productions have major stars in the supporting roles but here I'd give the edge to the Finney version: Bacall, Bergman, Bisset, Connery, Redgrave, Gielgud and so on.

Keeps you guessing until the end (although my husband had it figured out from the get-go). It's amazing how things get tied up at the very end.

David Suchet, the archetypal Poirot, or Albert Finney, a very interesting portrayal; however Kenneth Branagh has missed the mark with this horrible reinterpretation of Poirot in this Agatha Christie classic. Please don't waste your time on this version. It features a basket of big acting names shaken together and a mess is the regrettable outcome.
Truly a waste of time. If you want to see Branagh at his best see his Much Ado About Nothing with then wife Emma Thompson or his Hamlet. And if you want to see a great Johnny Depp see him in the Departed. He appears to be carrying that character into this role. As for the other actors they either do not need their greats listed (Judi Dench, Olivia Colman), or there is unfortunately nothing I can recommend.

This was a terrible mistake and for an Agatha Christie and Poirot fan like myself it is a waste of time. There are better choices.
