"When Myriam, a French-Moroccan lawyer, decides to return to work after having children, she and her husband look for the perfect nanny for their two young children. They never dreamed they would find Louise: a quiet, polite, devoted woman who sings to the children, cleans the family's chic apartment in Paris's upscale tenth arrondissement, stays late without complaint, and hosts enviable kiddie parties. But as the couple and the nanny become more dependent on one another, jealousy, resentment, and suspicions mount, shattering the idyllic tableau. Building tension with every page, The Perfect Nanny is a compulsive, riveting, bravely observed exploration of power, class, race, domesticity, and motherhood--and the American debut of an immensely talented writer"-- Provided by publisher.

An interesting novel which gets into the psyche of an excellent nanny who loves the children she looks after. I wish the author had not included the prologue which led to my expecting the ending. It would have been better if there had not been that spoiler.

As a I mother I was very anxious after reading the prologue at the start of this book. It is however very well written and I was engaged and keen to find out what happened and I am glad I persisted. It is a gripping tale, although creepy in many ways and had me on the edge knowing the end result from the start. A worthwhile read!

Terrible book.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐

Disturbing drama...

Myriam and Paul have found her at last, the perfect nanny for their two young children. Now their lives will be perfect too...with careers to challenge them, and a wonderful nanny to help raise their family. She cooks, she cleans, she plays games with the children...what more could one ask? But Louise is far, far from perfect and Myriam and Paul will soon have their lives destroyed in the most terrible way imaginable.

As Louise integrates herself more and more fully into the family’s life, warning signs become clear, but will anyone pay attention?

Pros: Short, concise chapters and well developed characters.

Cons: Not much plot at all, and I felt the ending let the book down...the first chapter, while incredibly disturbing and difficult to read, was much stronger than the ending.

Not sure about this one actually...terrifying content, so please be ready for that if you choose to read this one. Unfortunately, I didn’t love it.

This book is perfect. For what it is, it's written flawlessly. Highly Recommend.

I enjoyed the pace of the story. I was able to finish this in one sitting, unfortunately, I hated the ending. It felt rushed and unresolved. This was too good of a story for the ending to be so incomplete. I was left wondering so much. Good first effort...I guess.
