People are way to critical and who knows that they think is high brow humor. It was funny, yes it is at the same level of humor as Kim’s Convenience, so what? Very Canadian and very silly and a feel good film. No different in silliness than Big Fat Greek Wedding.
What an amateurish movie and a waste of my time. It included every offensive Italian immigrant cliché you can think of. It's right up there with Kim's Convenience for cheezy low-ball Canadian screenwriting. Are we supposed to pretend it's good just because it's a Canadian movie? Don't waste your time on this one.
I just gotta say one thing.... badda-bing, badda-boom.
This movie is terrible. All the worst stereotypes about Italians. If this 'Little Italy" is set in Canada (a good thing), why does everyone have NY accents? Andrea Martin gets to repurpose her fake Greek accent into a fake Italian accent. Requisite scene of lovers' stroll through a festival feeding each other cannolis. (Emma Roberts: "stupido" has the accent on the first syllable. Were you not present when the actress playing the younger you said it correctly?) Do yourself a favor and pass this one up.
