A long time ago, I enjoyed reading Terry McMillan's books. But reading I Almost Forgot About You reminded me why I stopped. In this book, her characters are one dimensional, her plotting is sloppy, and the ending was basically dated and felt tacked on and rushed. It begins with a good idea -- catching up with old boyfriends/lovers/husbands to find out what happened to them and to the relationship. However, she loses that thread pretty early on. She doesn't develop any of the supporting characters, so it's really hard to get interested or stay interested in them. Her dialogue is like something a high school student taking her first writing course would write. I was really disappointed.
