Not earthshaking blood and guts, but a refreshingly non-bombasic non-chauvenistic account of the WWII military and then subsequent civilian life of US soldier Alan Cope. The book is a biographical comic strip commencing with his youth as a paper boy in Pasadena, California, through his induction into the US Army, training as an armoured car gunner, arrival in France February 1945, subsequent advance through France into Germany, and then Czechoslovakia, occupation duties, discharge and repatriation to the US, reunion with family, pursuance of a theological career, disiilusion with religion, and life in the United States, and migration to France where he settled.
