Good – Eagle Eye (2008) 118 min. As an action film, this film gets top scores; great special effects keep one entertained throughout. The film explores the dangers of surveillance and socio-technological networks. Shia LeBeouf is wonderful in this film; he’s becoming such a movie star. Though the film is quite entertaining, the film also lacked a certain something; I kind of felt like something was missing – credibility perhaps; the ease; how everything is perfectly orchestrated; how no one gets seriously injured despite flying cars, construction cranes crashing through buildings, etc.…When Shia is locked up by Homeland Security, my first reaction would’ve been to cry uncontrollably; no, not Shia – he’s way to cool. Shia, we’re talking about the possible one way ticket to Guantanamo (be afraid, my boy, be very afraid). Enjoy the film but it’s best to keep your brain at bay.
