I've been absolutely rapt in this series from start to finish. The magnificent colorful characters were full of goodness and charm (even snooty Pearl Pratt). Prudish, semi-neurotic Thomas Brown and his priggish, nervous wreck of a wife Margaret; Queenie and Twister (my favorites); the brutally honest and adorably naïve Minnie (another favorite); the down-to-earth Lark Risers (although I didn't particularly warm up to Richard Harrington's Gabriel Cochrane character, an obvious attempt from the producers as a distraction from the sorely missed Brendan Coyle/Robert Timmins cornerstone character, thanks to "Downton Abbey"). And of course there's Dorcas Lane poking her "one weakness" into everybody's business. She made everything juicy, and had good common sense and the wisdom of Socrates to make everything right. You couldn't help but love her (and Julia Sawalha's flawless portrayal of her). This was Flora Thompson's autobiographical story as Laura Timmins, the young post-mistress, whom surprisingly, was not my most favorite character (although she was very sweet). I'll miss this series, and will most likely return to it in years to come. Magnificent stuff. FIVE STARS.
